Understanding Rembrand's Brand Safety Checks

Brand Safety checks are conducted with each creator's video prior to In-Scene Media insertion

Updated over 7 months ago

Rembrand pairs Brands with Creators in order to execute In-Scene Media. However, we understand it is important to ensure a good match between the brand and each content creator, especially when considering the scale and speed of In-Scene Media.

At Rembrand, we execute a comprehensive safety process via a robust system to minimize risk, providing peace of mind for brands wanting to run In-Scene Media within organic content. These automated brand safety checks are run on all video content, and content must pass all checks before Rembrand provides the video back to the creator with In-Scene Media insertions.

  1. Creator Vetting: Prior to the campaign launch, Rembrand provides a list of pre-vetted creators relevant to your brand’s audience and aligned with your desired content safety standards.

  2. Creator Approval: Brands can approve or deny each creator. Only approved creators are invited to participate in your campaign.

  3. Content Safety Checks: Before each approved creator’s videos go live, they undergo four layers of AI-based brand safety checks:

    • Transcript & Semantic Safety: Analyzes spoken words for any unsafe language.

    • Thematic Safety: Reviews the context to catch potentially unsafe language use.

    • Competitive Safety: Ensures no competitors are mentioned or visible during the insertion.

    • Visual Safety: Analyzes creator actions for visual alignment with brand safety.

  4. Launch and Monitoring: Once approved, the video is rendered with your brand placement and posted by the creator. You can track the campaign in real-time through Rembrand's measurement dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are these automated safety checks executed?

Semantic categories are run via Assembly.AI, who is a specialized leader in the space. Rembrand leverages Assembly.AI's content moderation modules behind-the-scenes, allowing us to flag the above 16 categories based on context and sentiment, not purely based on keywords. Rembrand also leverages other AI tools, including Rekognition visual review, Hive logo detection, and LLM sensitivity checks, to execute a comprehensive and automated review on every video in time for creators to publish the final video.

Can I specify additional content that I don't want my brand's placement to be associated with?

We find the above categories to be comprehensive, however we do allow brands to add custom keywords they would like us to flag for brand review in addition to the standard categories above.

Can I add a major competitor as a keyword to flag?

Yes; we can add competitors as custom keywords or logos to flag for brand review in addition to the standard categories above. For example, if Nike is adding shoes as product placement, they may want to flag Adidas for exclusion.

What if my brand is more edgy and doesn't care about certain categories?

Brands that cater to an edgier and adult-oriented demographic may have a different tolerance for certain elements in creator videos, such as the use of mild profanity or content related to alcohol consumption. These brands may prioritize authenticity, relatability, and connecting with their audience through a more casual or provocative tone. Rembrand is able to tailor each brand's safety checks to reflect their unique voice and appeal to their specific customer base; just let us know which categories you are more lenient with.

What if my brand is more conservative and is extremely strict about certain categories?

Brands that cater to families, or brands with a more wholesome focus in general, typically have a stricter set of standards to maintain trust and credibility among their customer base. These brands may prioritize their commitment to promoting health, well-being, and family values. Rembrand is able to tailor each brand's safety checks to reflect their unique voice and appeal to their specific customer base; just let us know which categories you are more strict about.
