Want one ad with many copy variants — different cities, offers, or audiences — each trafficked separately? That's DCO (dynamic creative optimization) in Spaceback: one creative, many versions, each with its own ad tag.
1. Add variables in Ad Builder
In any copy field, write variables in double braces: Now open in {{city}} or Save {{offer}} this weekend. Build the pack as usual.
2. Create versions
Open the creative → Versions & Tags. When a creative carries {{variables}}, you can create a version per value set (city = Austin / Dallas / Miami…). Each version is a separate render with the value baked in.
3. Tag per version
Every version gets its own Campaign Manager ad tag — VAST for video, HTML5 for display — so trafficking maps versions to placements however your media plan needs. See Trafficking Spaceback Creatives.
Managing DCO at scale
The Creatives table has a DCO column and an All DCO filter, so version families are easy to find and audit.
Versions stay fresh
Versions inherit the creative's refresh tier (e.g. Hourly refresh) — social counters and synced content stay current in every version without re-trafficking. Use Manual refresh on the Versions & Tags tab to force an update immediately.
